Often when IBS or prefab construction is mentioned, people only think about single or double-storey houses built for personal use. However, this is a misconception as IBS solutions have evolved to a point where they can be used to build a range of structures in varying height levels.

There have been many instances where IBS construction was used in multi-level housing complexes and even in the hospitality industry as we mentioned in our previous post. The basic idea for these prefab construction projects was to build the individual modules (for example a whole hotel room or single apartment unit) in a factory then transport the entire thing to the site to be stacked and fitted one on top of another.

Another way that IBS solutions can be used for high-rise construction is by using the steel formwork system which we are currently employing. The way this works is basically once we have a compatible plan of the structure, we will fabricate the necessary steel frames on site. Then, these steel frames will be paired with cement fibre boards to create a mould which is then filled with our lightweight cement.

Fantastically, this technique can also be used to scale vertically. This wall system can be used for load-bearing or non-load-bearing walls thus making the process of building a multi-storey building much faster than with conventional techniques.
